C5 not starting, other issues

Post by ibog »

I'm at a loss to what's going on with my C5 (2003 2.0 hdi 90hp)

I wonder if anyone can help. Bought car with emissions issues and low power figured simple turbo fix.. so, looking it over, has air leaking in from fuel filter pipe(from filter to pump). Had a cheap suspension leak.. fixed but low LDS now..

I'm waiting for an electrovalve on the EGR system.. it's filthy, mucky an dirty throughout turbo and rocker. My immobiliser comes on intermittently usually solved by faffing around with wires and unlocking the door a couple of times. After finding these faults and leaving them there, managed to get immobiliser off and tried to start. Cranked no start then big STOP and oil light came on.

NB-a bit of the rubber off the dipstick has gone down the tube and, I assume, into the sump. I took the oil filter off and turned it over and oil gushed out so assuming pump is ok. oil pressure valve works when u put it on a lighter gas can. Engine sounds dry like there's no fuel to me.

I cannot locate the fuel pump relay
(DW10TD RHY) I've looked under ECU and fusebox. even under the tray.. not there.. any ideas welcome. Turns over but no start.. two connectors on fuel pump. Could anyone tell me what can cause a STOP light? hoped to get a simple old car but I bought a c5 instead.. well, it's more fun isnit..

any ideas, stories or help appreciated.. I've just done two months working out wiring on my dead C3 and my brain's finally given up on me..

Reason: Removed extra line spaces and tidied up a bit.

The fuel pump relay is an integral part of the under bonnet fusebox, Its not designed to be replaced separately. Are you getting power to the fuel pump when cranking?

(the car is currently on the opposite side of town to my manual making things a little difficult to say the least.. I'll check fuel pump and wiring next)

also- looking for a 32 bit laptop for the diagbox software.. if anyone knows what to get?..

I'm not risking emulators I can't even print the sedre on vmplayer.

I am using a Toshiba NB250 netbook (with 2GB RAM) to run my DiagBox setup. It is running Windows 7 Starter.

Just to be clear im talking about the in tank fuel pump, there should only be one connector on this. You can access by lifting up the rear seat base & removing the big plastic bung.

I just noticed that you have an RHY engine so there is a possibility that you may not have an in tank pump if you have the Siemens injection system. Easy way to tell is if there is a hand primer on top of the engine there will be no in tank pump, it looks like there is but it will be just a sender unit. Be aware that even if it is the variant without the in tank pump it is still wired up as if it has one, this can often lead to people mis diagnosing a fuel pump fault even when there is not one fitted.
When you unplug the unit look in its connector (on the unit, not the wiring harness) & see how many terminal pins are in it, if there is only 2 then its just a fuel sender with no pump. If it has 4 pins its a combined pump & sender.
