Xantia - Interchangeability of hydraulic pipes 4023N4 and 4023N0

Unread post by lancia58 »

Hi

Are the following hydraulic pipes interchangeable

4023N4 and 4023N0

I can by 4023N4 but I think my car is fitted with 4023N0 . My car is MKII Xantia 2.0 16v with AL4 gear and air conditioner.

Thanks
Zohar

Jim,

Part #1 in the picture. On CitroenDocBackup when setting Xantia MK II 2.0 16V AL4 +Air conditioner it shows that 4023N0 is suitable for car since RPO 08198 ( My car RPO is 08432 ). For the same CitroenDocBackup when I enter 4023N4 at the part number field it pops the same window ( as in the photo ) showing 4023N0. Based on my experience it means that part numbers 4023N4 and 4023N0 are interchangeable although I guess there is differences otherwise there won't be two different part numbers. I guess the difference does not effect interchangeability but I want to verify before purchase the 4023N4.

When A/C is fitted, the HP pump and alternator are moved to make room for the compressor. I don't remember the details of the relative positions, but the pipes will have different bends and different lengths.

Hi
My car is fitted with original AC and according to CitroenDocBAckup the installed pipe is 4023N0. The 4023N4 is also for left hand cars with AL4 and AC. The only difference is the engine type. The 4023N0 is for XU10JAR and the 4023N4 is for XU7JP4 ( that details is in the picture ). If the threads of 4023N0 and 4023N4 are the same I guess they may be different bends.
More ideas are welcome.

Thanks

Is the pump in a different position on different engines ?...my bet is that it is a combination of pump position, the shape to go around the different shaped block and possible different placement of the 4 way connector.

With these high pressure pipes it is even more important that there is ZERO tension on the pipe (due to stress fractures/pump pulse....)

?? Where is the failure in the original pipe ??

Hi

There is a leak in the between the rigid part of the pipe and the flexible part (the thicker section in the picture) . The thing is that when selecting MK II 2.0 16V AC + AL4 in CitroenDocBackup and looking for 4023N4 it pops the Window of the supply piping steering gear but the part is marked 4023N0. The picture in my post pops when I didn't select the Xantia type I have but general MK II. I think that this means that there are interchangeable but maybe with some reservations. So I try to be sure.

Thanks

Leak at the joint pipe/rubber

In that case I would find a local specialist and have the rubber section replaced/remade even if it needs the pipe shortening a little to get to "clean" pipe.

(I assume you are having to import the replacement pipe and cannot return it is incorrect)

Hi,

It is hard to find a specialist and personally I think that new is better. No there a spare parts shop that specialized in PSA parts and they have an old stock that they sell in a relatively cheap procise.

Thanks

It does not have to be a Citroen specialist.....ones that work with hi pressure hydraulic pipes (industry/trucks/farming etc) can do such replacements.
