Stop solenoid

Post by Pug106Dave »

Hey guys, just noticed something whilst I was checking on my leaky radiator[:(]
There is fuel leaking from around the top of what I've found out (thanks to Haynes!) is my stop solenoid. Car is a N reg Pug 106 1.5D Believe its a Rotodiesel pump. Am i right in guessing as its leaking I need to replace it? Fuel leaks are not normally good thing, reminds me of my old 205.
Could it just need taking out and cleaning up?
Cheers

I had a colleague with a roto-diesel pump leaking around the stop solenoid. He replaced the solenoid washer and all. It can't be difficult because up until that point it was the only job he did on a car.
They have a gasket/washer which decompose and you end up with a leak.

They can also leak through the "crimped " bit where the metal meets plastic on top, they are available from most accessory shops for around twenty quid, be very careful screwing the new one in as the rubber tip can chew itself up.
