Smokin Diesel Synergie

Post by synergiebloke »

Hi, Can anyone help with a possible cure for a troublesome Synergie?
1999 on a T 1.9TD runs fine when under normal load but as soon as the turbo cuts in the world behind becomes a bit dark!! Lots of black smoke. Have had the diesel pump checked and thats OK. Tried a different turbo, same problem - if anything slightly worse. It had an engine replacement and the garage are now at a bit of a loss. Can you help?
When starting there is also a quantity of white smoke but this clears when revved so I'm unsure if this is connected.
Over to you Gentlemen........

Hi
Have you looked at your air cleaner element recently? [:)]

I think your injectors are stuffed and if they are that bad they will need to be replaced or overhauled. The reason is that you are not getting finely atomised fuel in the correct pattern.
A heavy dose of cleaner may work but I'd take it to an independant diesel specialist and see whet he says. Worked wonders on my BX TD - and blew the head gasket after 18 miles it was going so well!

Just a quick update. Thanks for the suggestions all tried but no joy. However..............
The cause has been found and is very much one for future reference. The local diesel specialist was scratching his head as everything checked out fine and in desperation fired it up with the exhaust off. Loud? Yes but smokin no. Right through the rev range. Looks like the Cat had collapsed restricting exhaust flow. Result poor performance and smoking due to unburnt fuel. New exhaust system being arranged now.
Just though it was worth mentioning.
Thanks again.... until the next fault!!
