Xantia TD lack of Boost
Driving my Dad's Xantia TD the other day felt like driving a non turbo car. There is very little difference when the boost comes on and its very difficult to percivev this. After driving his 405 TD a few years back, with almost the same engine, I was surprised at its lack of go. Is this a common fault?
The easiesy and most common fault producing this problem is that the hose communicating boost pressure to the additional fuel device on the injection pump fails, so the turbo spins and pumps as its intended to and nothing happens as there is no more fuel.
The pipe is usually thin and made from a rubber - like compound and runs between the intercooler and the injection pump. Check its still there, hasn't split or blocked.
