Xantia rear goes up/down

Post by sorany »

My old Xantia 1.8i auto 1993, non Hydactive seems to tuck under at the rear, it can take 20 seconds at the lights after brakeing for the suspension to regain its height. Spheres and rear height corrector are new.

Hi, a couple of passing thoughts to consider. If you have the footbrake on it can stop or slow the way the rear lifts because the wheels need to rotate slightly as the rear rises. Also the rear spheres may be new but does the 93 Xantia have the accumulator sphere on the engine? If so that may need changing. Try switching off the engine and then pushing and holding the rear down immediately afterwards, it should then rise on the accumulator pressure. (You will need to sit on the boot lip!!) If not it indicates a flat or low acc sphere.
