Hello everyone,
My 2010 2.0hdi Tourer has, for some time now, sounded like I'm torturing a large rat whenever I press the clutch pedal. I have already slathered the gubbins around the pedal, springs and plungers and whatnot, with grease but to no avail. I now believe that the squeaking sound comes from the other side of the bulkhead.
I thank everyone on advance for any help, but please keep in mind that this is a LHD C5, hence the innards beyond the footwell may differ from my fellow drivers in RHD countries.

Re: C5 X7 Tourer with a squeaky clutch
I had this (RHD) and the spring was replaced as it never went away even when greased. I've had a look and can't find a specific technical issue on a Left Hand Drive, but the LHD does have a clutch assistance spring as detailed below with details of how to remove and replace:
Looking at parts for your specific X7, there appears to be two of them... (8) & (9)
I hope you're sitting down for the prices of these springs....
(8) Declutching Assistance Spring, Part: 2148H8, £82.22
(9) Declutching Assistance Spring, Part: 2148H9, £84.92
For these prices, you'd expect a spring that doesn't squeak!
This is referring to removal and refitting:
Removal
N.B.: Mark the direction of fitting of the clutch servo spring (12). Mark them (if necessary).
Lubricate the retention pins of the clutch assistance spring (12) with silicone-free grease (Pedal side and pedal bracket side).
Refitting the clutch assistance spring (12) (According to the marks made at removal).

Re: C5 X7 Tourer with a squeaky clutch
Any updates if this solved the issue?
My own C5 (X7 2.0HDI 2011) has a similar squeak too when depressing the clutch pedal, but it appears to originate more from underneath the car. Is a more likely candidate the slave cylinder or is there any other known bushings or springs etc. that could be the cause?

Unfortunately not. I just don't have the tools or the space to get underneath the car and have a look. My mechanic insists it isn't worth getting bent out of shape over it. I've just decided to live with it and try to ignore it as best as I can

Re: C5 X7 Tourer with a squeaky clutch
The only squeak I ever had on my X7 re: the clutch was the actual clutch pedal spring - drove me nuts - they replaced it and bliss for ever after.... All detailed above in my post with details.
