Looking to buy 2014 c4 Help please

Hi all

Went to see a 2014 c4 Picasso 1.6hdi for sale by a private seller.

Everything seemed great but there’s some oil in the engine and some black caked on soot - looks like it’s been like this for a while.

It’s towards the bottom on the right hand side, not anywhere directly near the engine head/turbo so not sure what this part might be.

Any ideas if this is a serious issue or something that’s easily repaired? Or should I walk away?

I can't make out anything from that photo sorry, it really doesn't show anything, but my advice would be to get an independent inspection from the RAC or AA who also run a diagnostic for you for peace of mind. Bear in mind that you have no comeback with a private sale..... so if you are 70-80% made up with the vehicle, then an inspection report could be money well spent.

I’ve told the seller to get it investigated and fixed before I’d consider buying it.
