Fault code P1337 coil pack replaced but code still showing

Unread post by Elliep123 »

My DS3 broke down yesterday when driving home from work. I managed to get it home in limp mode, and a message was displayed on my screen saying ‘engine fault - have the vehicle repaired’ I plugged in a diagnostic kit and fault code P1337 came up. A family member has replaced the coil pack that said needed replacing, but the fault code hasn’t cleared and the car is still operating in limp mode. The cooling fan also comes on within seconds and makes a really loud noise even when the engine has then been turned off. I can’t move the car now to get it to a garage, it’s MOT is due in 2 days and I’m at a complete loss as to what to do as I can’t move it. Any advice or tips would be really helpful. Thanks!

You'll need to provide your VIN so I can associate the code to the specific engine management system on your DS3. (please post your VIN in full without spaces - it will be automatically masked from public view after submitting your post & will only be visible to staff).

@Redox - You may have the same problem but do have the same error codes?

It will likely be a coil pack / plugs as this P1337 fault relates to Combustion misfiring on cylinder 1.

Yes, the fault code was p1337. I have replaced all the spark plugs and coils and the problem is still there. The car seems to lack any power under acceleration.

Fault Code: P1337
Description of Fault: Combustion misfiring on cylinder 1 fault: Not characterised Cylinder 1 misfirings (Possibility of damage to the catalytic converter)
The following conditions have to be met:

- Engine speed above 500 rpm and below a threshold defined in the engine ECU
- Torque less than a threshold defined in the engine ECU
- The crankshaft and the camshaft are synchronised
Conditions for Fault to clear:
  • Stop the engine and restart, in order to re-inject into the cylinders cut off following the detection of ignition misfirings
Downgrade Modes whilst Fault is active:

What condition are your inlet valves and ports in? Have they ever been cleaned?

My reply above assumed that your engine was the THP155- please correct me if I'm wrong

It could be it doesn't like the new coil packs if they are aftermarket because the waveform that is being returned to the ECU. You need to get it properly diagnosed with a scope.

Hello

Did anyone sort this issue please?

My C4 Grand Picasso MK2 THP 154 petrol 1.6 manual - 2014

Is giving me the same code P1337.

I had a mechanic change the coil pack in Feb but the shaking and rough Idle didn't go. It throws the car into Limp Mode and keeps giving me fault code P1337.

Is it possible that the coil pack and spark plugs used are causing the problem? The brand my mechanic used for all 4 were Bosch brands.

Any ideas? I'm going to try changing spark plugs. I need to know which coil pack and spark plugs are recommended for my vehicle please?

Are you sure that the correct coil pack was replaced?
The number 1 cylinder is at the gearbox end of the engine.

Hello

Yes - All 4 Coil Packs were replaced. They were checked today by a new mechanic and they were clean and fine he said. Also I had all Spark plugs changed apparently they were worn all 4.

So after a full service and spark plugs changed. The car is still shaking and becomes noticeable when then engine gets hotter. I've noticed the engine bay feeling really hot. The other thing is I test drove the car on motorway and it's struggling to get past 30 rpms and the speed is just hitting 85mph but it is clear that the car is being restricted and lack of power in acceleration.

Service light with engine error message comes on stating : "Engine Fault - Take Vehicle to repair "

There are no fault codes when I connect scanner

Could this be a sensor issue MAF Sensor? or Crankshaft Position Sensor?
