Citroen DS3 Service light
Hey guys!
Bit of a head scratcher. My service light comes on accompanied by an Engine Fault: Repair Needed message on the centre display. It only stay on for a few seconds, then it goes off for a few seconds and then comes back on for a few seconds. It does this continually until the car is switched off. Additionally, this cycle only starts once the engine comes up to temperature. No service light whilst the engine is cool.
I think it's probably purely coincidental, but it started after my water pump had been removed and refitted when checking for a coolant leak. I've checked my oil, coolant and windscreen wash levels and they're all good and the car drives fine.
Any ideas would be much appreciated.
My car is a 2011 Citroen DS3 1.6 THP.
Thanks

Re: Citroen DS3 Service light
You really need to get us some fault codes - have it diagnosed with Diagox if possible then pop your VIN up with the codes and we can provide some additional info.
These types of warning message are non-specific and could be anything really - hence the need for some proper fault codes. Be aware that cheaper generic scanners may not be able to read constructor fault codes.

Dammit! I was hoping to be able to avoid Citroen fleecing me for their diagnostics cost
I'll get it booked in with them and report my findings.
Thanks mate

Re: Citroen DS3 Service light
There's nothing wrong with trying a generic scanner first if you have one. It will pick up basic OBDII codes but will run into issues if it's a specific Citroen code. Might be worth a go first if you have access to a scanner, then we can advise of what they mean.

No cigar with the cheap generic one worse luck. I think I’m going to pick up a diagbox. I seem to remember it being a bit of a minefield getting a good one when I was looking into it a few years back. Any tips on what to look for getting one at all?

Re: Citroen DS3 Service light
I and many others use a UK supplier (Easydiagnostics), although they frequently run out of stock - but if this is the case, give them a call to see when they are due back in. Also, although unaffiliated, they do provide a discount for members. See the post here:

Re: Citroen DS3 Service light
Sadly, they were out of stock and weren't getting any stock in for 10-14 days so I had to take a punt on an ebay one. It seems to have the same chipset etc. so hopefully it works. IF it works I plan on doing some customising after my issue is sorted. Do you know if I need to stick with v7.62 to be able to do this or will v7.83 be ok?

7.62 is more than good enough. My Diagbox at 7.58 would be good enough.
As I get older I think a lot about the hereafter - I go into a room and then wonder what I'm here after.

Unless you know exactly what your're doing, I suggest you have a read of this as you can easily brick your vehicle:MarcoDS3 wrote: 06 Apr 2023, 14:05 Sadly, they were out of stock and weren't getting any stock in for 10-14 days so I had to take a punt on an ebay one. So grateful for that because at the very least I definitely wouldn't have thought of keeping the laptop plugged into the mains when coding. Lifesaver

Re: Citroen DS3 Service light
So my punt on the eBay one worked out ok. Works great.
I’ve attached a screenshot of the fault codes it found.
Further to my original issue my turbo as stopped spooling up. My local garage have checked all the vacuum lines and couldn’t find a boost leak. I thought my other issue may have finally put it into limp mode but that charge pressure code suggests it may be something else.
The Oxygen code I’m guessing could be a faulty lambda sensor. Though I am running a decat with a spacer on the bottom sensor. It has been working fine but it could be that it’s not doing its job anymore too.
Any advice would be gratefully received.

Re: Citroen DS3 Service light
I've asked above for the VIN (please post your VIN in full without spaces - it will be automatically masked from public view after submitting your post & will only be visible to staff), as I can't help relate the codes to the specific engine ECU without it.
