Hi everyone
I have a low milage Xantia XUD9 with some oil leak issues.
The back of the engine was full of oil gunk when i got it 1.5 years ago.
Cleaned the engine and replaced valve cover gasket (rock hard) was OK but not leak free.
Last week i replaced vacuum pump o-rings (also rock hard).
Now it is much better but there seems to be seepage from between the head and block. it seems to be present all along the edge, from left to right, so to speak.
Is head gasket oil leaks a common problem on XUD?
Or is it more probable that it is oil from the intake?
It is not so bad that it warrants a replacement now, but should i look into it in the future?
Greetings
Mikael

Has your engine got the rubber manifold to head sleeves? These go hard and cause a mess.

No, it has alloy intake all the way as far as i can see. It has front mounted intercooler, not on top like BX/205 etcmoizeau wrote: 20 Mar 2023, 17:32 Has your engine got the rubber manifold to head sleeves? These go hard and cause a mess.

An oil leak there is not hugely common but I've seen a few weeping there over the years... It's all down to a fairly thin gasket land between the big oil gallery and the edge of the head/block... The TU engine suffers the same issue but on the opposite side of the head.
It's worth checking the turbo oil feed and return lines for leaks, especially the return, as those can cause a similar issue...
To be honest, if it's not too bad and the head gasket is fine in all other respects, I'd be tempted to live with it... It's a lot of work to swap an otherwise well behaved head gasket for the sake of an oil weep.
And my memory grows dim at times

Like those on the 2.1TD XUD11 engine... Can they ever make a mess! I must confess I've not seen them on a 1.9TD engine but then again I've not seen all the massive range of variants - so farmoizeau wrote: 20 Mar 2023, 17:32 Has your engine got the rubber manifold to head sleeves?
