Automatic gearbox fluid type

Can anyone advise me on what the correct ATF fluid is for 2009 Citroen C4 Grand Picasso 1.6 Diesel semi automatic (tiptronic)? and possibly a how to change the fluid also thanks in advance for any info.

You DON'T use ATF fluid in a semi automatic - ever. It is not an automatic and has no torque converter as it's a piloted manual gearbox and clutch that uses hydraulic actuators to make the gear and clutch changes.

You shouldn't need to touch the oil in the manual gearbox without reason.
The oil used in the actuators (that have nothing to do with the internals of the gearbox) require a special type of oil from Citroen. You can see the level of the actuator oil on the system from underneath the vehicle on a small reservoir, but never attempt to fill this as the actuator hydraulics need to be depressurised before topping up the levels. You shouldn't need to do anything with this unless there is a problem. The oil is always checked and refilled when the system is depressurised.

Thanks for your response the problem is when taking off from standstill it lurches and the same from first to second and also when going into reverse apart from that it seems to drive fine with plenty power any suggestions on what’s going on? Thanks again.

Normally surging or lurching on gear change can be as a result of the gearbox grid procedure not being carried out properly. The actuators need to have a procedure undertaken with the diagnostic tool to ensure the actuators know the position of the gearbox grille.

Have you had a clutch replacement undertaken recently? This procedure is required after a clutch replacement, along with the clutch bite point initialisation.

You really need to have it diagnosed with Lexia / Diagbox to see if there are any specific codes being returned.

Another cause can be if the particle filter is regenerating, where the engine load increases and this can cause a lurch between first to second gear. So if the issue is temporary, that may also be the fault.

Thanks again not sure as vehicle was purchased from auction do you know what the general cost of getting this done would be? Sorry for all the questions.

It shouldn't be more than half an hour or so at a Citroen dealer. They could also check for any logged faults, so allow for an hour.

How many miles? It probably needs a new clutch, but you can try resetting the bite point - accelerate moderately hard from a standstill on the level in auto till it changes to 3rd, come to a stop and repeat a couple of times. This might improve it.
