C5 Audio Standard Fit Speaker & Aerial Enquiry

Unread post by jamescarruthers »

Would one of you kind people with proper Citroen access be able to tell me is my C5 VF7**************[VIN obfuscated, can be read by forum staff] happens audio equipment with the separate amplifier, or it is a lower end installation?

The sound used to be perfetly acceptable but now the car is back with me, it sounds like it has blown speakers. Is there a difference between the speakers of a non-amplified and amplified car? What options were available as I don't want to accidentally downgrade the audio!

I am trying to work out if £25.20 is money well spent for this set https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/255942192273 of which I note x2 are Harman Becker (I sort of recognise the name) BUT they are stated for a 2004 to 2009 car for some reason; my C5 is a 2001 Exclusive SE.

TIA

Your car has the basic RD3 (Radio Data system), and no equaliser amp fitted. The speakers are pretty standard and used on may PSA vehicles.

Tweeters (1) are part: 6562C7, £18.98 each inc. VAT
Main Speakers (2) (Diameter 165), part: 6562X2, £19.79 inc. VAT

(3) are the additional speakers for upgraded systems / trim that you don't have fitted James.

Thanks both. I might look at an upgrade but seem to remember the originals sounding pretty good also. Price is surprisingly reasonable for the originals! That eBay listing has sold now.

I did originally have to replace some rear speakers in my MK II, but aftermarket speakers were horrendous trying to fit without destroying or re-drilling new holes, so in the end, I binned the replacements and just got some originals.

NEW FAULT! The radio signal keeps cutting out after about about 40 minutes of driving and I've read on here that the antenna amplifier in the roof is likely to have failed. Marc, are you able to tell me the part number and price, please-- I think there are a load of options, but hopefully it is clear with my VIN which I should have-- the car has the VDO Sat Nav.

I dug out some CDs for the changer for the drive to work today-- R.E.M.'s UP still sounds good, even on blown speakers!

Best to ask for parts on the 'Parts thread in future James, as I may miss it with the hundreds of posts each week - as I can't read all of them all the time
