Hi guys/girls. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I have a 2011 Renault Grand scenic with a possible gearbox problem. For the past couple of years I’ve had a check anti pollution light come on the dash. Have taken it to a few garages who didn’t know what it meant so just knocked the light out and car drives normally.(would never pick up fault with diagnostic tool). A couple of month ago a new warning came up which was “check auto gearbox”( semi auto box) and the car goes in sort of limp mode. It will still reach speeds but slowly. When the car is cold it runs perfect, power etc. but as soon as it heats up it goes slow again, gets cold back to normal car. Where it gets really strange, once check auto box comes on it goes in slow mode, but then as soon as check anti pollution light comes on(approx 20 mins after) power is back and everything is normal again for 5 mins then check auto box comes on again and slow mode again. I’ve called every garage in the area including Renault and no one will go near the car to look because of the kind of box it is, just told to scrap the car. It’s a good car with only 90,000 on the clock and everything has been spot on until now. It has been serviced every year have just put on brand new battery and plugs, cam belt etc. so looked after. It has been on a diagnostic machine and the readings none made sense. Pretty much every sensor on the car wasn’t working which makes no sense whatsoever as apart from the one problem car is perfect.
Sorry for long post any help greatly appreciated

Re: Very Annoying unknown Problem
Lots of very knowledgeable folk on here with access to lots of tech data, and diagnostic interpretation more for Citroen and Peugeot than Renault. I have a clio in my maintenance fleet and occasionally dip into Renaltforums.co.uk.

I have seen similar problems to yours posted up there so you could try putting up your problem on that forum as well.
You may get an answer from someone with a bit of first hand knowledge here but I would shove it up on the renauttforums.co.uk in the meantime.
One of the responses to a posting of a similar problem over on renaulltforums, although quite an unsatisfactory loose end sort of thread
edit Just noticed you said you had put a new battery on so some of this may be irrelevant! but I would still put up your problem on Renaultforums.co.uk see what it brings.

was
"I would not panic and first check on the condition of the battery and charging system ...
For a vehicle to over night suddenly develop a fault in basically 3 unrelated systems is unusual .............. and the common factor there is a a possible bad battery."
This is another thread re Check Auto Box message which also recommends checking battery and charging systems
