C3 radio issues

Hi all,

first time posting on here so please go gentle !!!

Ok, here's the issue.

The radio on my wife's C3 has started playing up, BBC R2 just about works but fades in and out, all the other stations have gone to hissing.
I have checker the antenna and no signs of corrosion or breaks on it. I've removed the radio, taken out the coax cable and pit a safety pin onto the central spigot out of the back of the radio and when contact is made the radio is clear. So, chances are it's a break somewhere in the coax cable or if there is a junction box / booster under the lining near the aerial mount.

Has anyone any input please, is it full roof lining out to gain access?
