Injector leak back test result

Unread post by darbuck »

Hi All, I just ran a leak back test and I have three good injectors the fourth is not returning any diesel. Does this indicate a clogged injector.

Thanks in advance for any advice

Given how little is in all of them, I'd be tempted to run it for longer. It might not give a different result, but at the moment it could be that it does "leak less" just at present less than not a lot = nowt :-D

I ran it for 3 mins which is the recommended test but there is absolutely nothing coming out of the cylinder 3 injector on leak back, It would explain why I am getting a jammed shut fault code for the no 3 injector. Thanks by the way Matt. I also think it tells me that my valves are good 😃. Not damaged from timing belt being out by a tooth.

Sorry, didn't make the link to the other discussion - yes seems a likely candidate for your new poor running issue.

I think injectors can be cleaned - ultrasonically? I'm not sure if your typical "domestic" type ultrasonic cleaner is powerful enough? Would think cycling the injector on and off would also be a good idea. Am sure I have seen it done (on YouTube most likely - will have a dig)

Ok I have an ultrasonic cleaner it might work. but I also bought a second hand injector off eBay so I will swap out when it arrives I am going to try swapping injector 2 and 3 to see if my issue jumps. What do you think

Yes, sounds a good plan. Have you got a set of the copper sealing washers too? Would be best to change those when disturbing at least a couple of injectors.

Hi lads tried to pull the Injector but wouldn't budge using a slide hammer.
Good news tried starting her and running her and she just started running nice I think the slide hammer freed the solenoid. Code cleared didn't come back so fingers crossed.

Ha ha! Excellent news!

Either "percussive maintenance" or else the threat of violence was enough!

Hope it continues to behave, must be a relief after weighing up potential bent valves etc recently! Well pleased for you =D>
