Peugeot Boxer DAB problem, radio firmware update (SOLVED)

Unread post by marteuk »

So just recently bought Peugeot Boxer Professional 2016 reg with TomTom sat nav. DAB didn't work. there was DAB on menu to chose, but FM still was rather than changing from FM to DAB. Read on internet and here advice was to visit dealer for an firmware update. So first i did decided to get my TomTom maps updated, and surprisingly now in 2023 i was the first who did maps update on my 2016 van, meaning that I was still eligible for a free one time update from TomTom which I did. Then decided to have a look at firmware, and found update file online. Downloaded it (300mb) and updated my radio firmware straight from ver6 to ver13, voila DAB started to work. So, to save you time visiting dealer I'm sharing the file, which contents you extracting to your fat32 formatted USB drive, and then inserting into van's USB port. It took approx. 30min, so I left van idling. It worked for me, but I take no responsibility if wouldn't work for you. Good luck with your update. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1CKvKXv ... share_link

Hi there
I have just bought a Peugeot boxer campervan conversion. I have the same problem with the DAB and out of date Sat Nav. My Tomtom map is 2015 so I might be eligible for the free one time update. How do you get that? Also how do you get the firmware download off the usb stick into the unit. I inserted my usb into the van usb port but wasn't sure what to do next. Thanks Andy

I just updated my maps using Tom Tom Home with a USB then the radio using the file above. Once downloaded, unzip, copy all files within folder (not folder itself) to USB, prepared as above. Once plugged into dash USB, system should pick up the update then start it within a minute or two. DAB was an undetectable option for me before the update but now can be selected since I updated.

Hi there,
I have upgraded my head unit and DAB started working.
It’s all good.
Now I’m looking to update my maps.
Any clue where and how to get it?
Thanks

Hello,
First post so sorry if missed the answer else where, I have looked.
I have a FL250 VP1 radio, non satnav, which has lost DAB. Can someone advise if the software update spoken about under the satnav ersioned radios will work with my radio. I appreciate it won’t suddenly grow a screen, but is the radio side and satnav treated separately? It’s been to local dealer who are stumped and Peugeot technical only suggest checking antenna and coax. I have, and they are all good. Any words of wisdom gratefully received.

I will help if I knew what system you have. Please post your VIN in full without spaces - it will be automatically masked from public view after submitting your post & will only be visible to staff.

Your VIN's incorrect - you have 18, it should be 17 and there is at least an error in the last 8 somewhere, however I've taken out an extra '1' so if yours is a:

BOXER 3 MOTOR CAB TYPE 16 2.2 HDI 130 PUMA C Manual gearbox 6

...then unfortunately I can't help as it's essentially a Ford engine with Ford accessories like the 'Digital VP1 audio system, sorry :(

Sorry for the error but it looks right for make and model.
The radio has Fiat 250 VP1 on it, as well as Mopar, so are you saying that Ford put their own software into the Fiat radio?
Be interesting to know.
Thanks again,
Colin

Hi, yes these are collaboration vehicles depending on the model, version and engine fitted. The PSA variants tend to have mostly PSA equipment (engines, audio and telematics for one example), but others are Ford / FIAT variants and use their equipment.

On these commercial vans a separate diagnostic module needs to be attached to the Lexia VCI (S1279 module) to ensure proper communication with these systems. Also, separate procedures may be required on the Fiat variants especially when replacing ECUs and equipment requiring a 'Proxy Alignment' that is different to pure 'PSA' vehicles. So the software on the Fiat / Ford variants will use proprietary Audio Head Units / Telematics with whatever system software they operate, but I personally don't support those systems firmware / software-wise. 👍

Thanks for the explanation, I think I understand. Might explain why I get a canbus b error reported because of the mixed systems.
Thanks again,
