2014 308 T9 1.6 125THP Oil catch can mounting position

Unread post by Agrg21 »

Hi All,

Does anyone have any experience in mounting a oil catch can on a T9 1.6thp? I'm trying to do both PCV breathers with separate catch cans but I'm having trouble with finding a suitable location to mount it?

Any suggestions?

Many thanks in advance

On my 2013 DS5 THP155 I installed catch cans on both breather circuits. The turbo inlet can was mounted on the radiator on a simple plate, but the intake manifold required a more complicated bracket at the end of the motor. The big mistake I made was putting a non-sealed can on the intake manifold side- it blew off the pressure release valve no doubt because of the turbo boost. And if I had read the OCC instructions more carefully I would have realised it was not recommended for circuits with boost. I replaced the one shown in the photo with a sealed unit. I get as much as 10 times as much liquid in the intake manifold circuit, the equivalent of ~500 mls per 10k km. But I still get oily smells from under the bonnet so I would suggest getting fully sealed cans for both circuits.

Hello there, I'm new to the forum. I'm planning to install a catch can on my THP Picasso. Saw this post and wanted to know if @Gwest, you bought the U shaoed pipe that connects catch can to the PCV heater or it's the OEM pipe you modified?

Thanks in advance.

I’m afraid I have not been keeping up with the forum of late so please excuse the tardy reply. I made the U-bend by cutting and rejoining the existing pipe although I am now a bit vague on what joiner I used.

No worries Gwest and thanks for confirming my thoughts about the U bent... I'll manage to get a solid proper high heat resistant joint. Do you still own the DS5 BTW? Asking to have some feedbacks before and after install the catch cans.

There is a bit of history on the catch cans- try searching for Aussiefrogs DS5 5FV engine oil dilution
