2007 Citroen Relay Ecu Replacement

Unread post by Milbourne3324 »

Hi

I have an ECU fault and it appears the way forward is to replace the ecu, bsi, fuse box, clocks and key.

My question is does both the S/W and H/W number have to match on both ECU’s - I have potentially found one but the S/W is one digit out.

Thanks in advance

You must get the correct part as vehicle electronic architecture and capability differ between variants. The clocks are not necessary and neither are the fuse boxes (unless this is part of your problem) but your clock and BSI will revert to the highest mileage out of either the clock or the BSI once connected, so bear that in mind if you have a clock or BSI from a higher mileage vehicle.

Maybe it would be better to start off with letting us know the issue and / or place up any fault codes you have first, along with your VIN if you need some help?

I don’t have the error code but the ecu was ‘spiked’ when jump starting the van.

I have seen online you can get the damaged ecu cloned and it will plug and play, just trying to work out the best way forward.

I should say the van won’t start as no diesel is being sent to the injectors

Ok, if you suspect it has been fried, be aware that cloning probably won't work, as it needs to have the configuration copied first of all to the replacement unit if you are to avoid having it downloaded at a dealers.

Depending on the damage, if the data has become corrupt then it may not be possible. No doubt they will be able to confirm this when you send it off.

This will most likley be a mk3 but we need to confirm its not a straggling mk2. If its a mk3 with the Ford Puma engine if I remember right if you get a repaired blank ECU they are self programming when you switch the ignition, you just need to program the injector coding etc (which you will need to do with a 2nd hand set anyway). This will save having to replace the BSI & keys.
As said above the instrument panel or under bonnet fusebox have nothing to do with the immobiliser on this vehicle.

Hi

It’s a 2007 with the tear drop shaped headlights if that helps at all. When I have it an oil change it has ford stamped on the engine.

Thanks

Sounds like a mk3 then. Have you looked into getting yours repaired? there are lots of companies that will repair yours or clone a used one for you.
I would personally prefer this to a BSI & key swap. Much less hassle.

People have said that because the ecu has spiked that it couldn’t be cloned… still hunting for an ecu currently
