Xantia Remote Locking

Post by Scorbs »

My remote locking is dead.
I have 2 transmitter neither of which work (yes I have changed the bateries). The car has had its keypad disconnected and the ignition switch is not the original.
Does anyone have any bright ideas as to why the remote locking no longer works. The doors locks OK.

Since it has the keypad I assume it's an IR plip.
The reciever for the plip is in the headlining just in front of the sunroof. The inside of the bubble can get dirty and cause problems but it is more likely that water has got onto the reciever.

When you have replaced the batteries it is most likely that the "settings" are gone and you need to re-program it. Use one of the key on the ignition and turn it a bit ... just the battery light on .... hold the plip against the receiver and keep it pressed for 10 seconds. Turn the ignition off and try the plip, it should work now! Do the same with the other plip.
I my case when the batteries ran out I could unlock the car but the alarm was still set. Very annoying when driving and the alarm is going every 5 minutes! [:0]
