ECU Errors on DS5

Unread post by pasko »

Please, help. These errors occurred after replacing the alternator/generator. Before that, they updated all the modules to the latest version in the authorized service. Citroen ds5 hybrid 4.

Ok, so I'm going to exclude the A/C BSI issues for now as the reset of the Hybrid faults are all pointing toward the Hybrid Battery. I won't put any more up as you can see from most of the faults it's all pointing to the same thing.

The traction battery unit is probably end of life and these are not cheap to replace (about £6,500 UK for the unit alone excluding labour). The ECU is part of the battery, so all these faults would indicate the Hybrid Traction Battery itself, though I would get that checked with Citroen directly.

I know that the DS-badged DS5 only provide an 8 year warranty on the drive batteries, so yours being 11 years old is probably at its operational life expectancy. So it's a fair bit of money to invest in the car, so unless the rest of the vehicle is in top notch condition, you have some decisions to make.

Even most of the latest Hybrid / EVs only warrant 8-10 years on the battery or 100k-150k miles, so another hidden cost down the line that is going to put people off buying second hand.

Obviously I can only provide you with the official fault code descriptors, so armed with this, you'll have to either get somebody with experience on these to diagnose it further, but as I said the Hybrid ECU and the battery module itself are all integrated, so short of having the connections checked by a specialist I would think that that is the most likely prognosis looking at the codes.

At 220k KMs (137k miles) it's certainly at about the life expectancy for the battery.
