Diagbox Installation Issues

Post by legepe »

GiveMeABreak wrote: 08 Feb 2023, 23:52 Ok best of luck.
I installed the new dpf (the old one was full of soot)
Ever since I did the manual regneration that seemed to not fully complete, I have not been able to communicate with the vehicles ecu!
I was blaming it firstly on the diagbox as this seemed to be giving problems anyway and any functions with it was so slow it was like watching paint dry
I have installed diagbox on a different laptop with windows 7 32bit and it responds 10 times quicker than my old laptop, however, I have the same problem (see attached)
Any ideas whats gone wrong.. could this be a problem with diagbox or have I some how damaged the ecu, and if so... some advice on what to do next would be very much appreciated!?

It looks like you're still on Ver 7.02 Diagbox. I would have thought that Ver7.57 or 7.58 would be better and might shake hands with the reluctant ECU. If that doesn't work then, yes, it might be a problem ECU.

Yes, you need to update it to 7.57 minimum, but I suggest 7.62.

If you are not getting dialogue with the ECUs then your VCI is likely faulty or not a full chip kit.

7.57 was sufficient for all ECUs on my 2013 C5 X7.

Please see attached - these are the only updates Ive got (bought it in 2015) checked on previous pictures I posted here, and it was working on 7.02. Where do I get the updates from, and are they stright forward to install?

Yes Paul, but you have a different car and the updates are released to fix multiple issues on multiple ECUs across multiple vehicles, so just because your X7 is working it does not mean another vehicle won't have issues.

I have looked at the changelogs and have picked the most stable I can suggest that has most of the issues fixed for the OPs vehicle.

However, having said all that, I don't want to lose sight of the fact that even V7.02 which was released in 2013 would not result in lack of Dialogue with all those ECUs!

As you have confirmed it was working earlier, I suspect you have pulled a cable from the motherboard solder joint that is resulting a lack of communication. So I'd suggest you may want to investigate this first before shelling out on another kit, becasue as it stands, it isn't any good in its present condition. I'd check the cables and solder joints where the cable attaches.

Take your pick. I would suggest V7.xx to V7.44 and then V7.44 to V7.49, V7.49 to V7.53, V7.49 to V7.57, 7.57 vers 7.58 and 7.58 vers 7.62. Don't worry about the last to programs being named in French. You'll still be left in English.

Having said that, I have a feeling that on my Diagbox laptop (which is where I did the actual update of course) there was a shortcut program from V7.44 to 7.49 or something like that. I'll have to check if you're interested.

Thanks for the info on these updates Paul, I am interested but how can I get them, or at least the one that will work best?

Just would like to know, can I jump stight to an advanced update or do I have to install a previous one first before getting to the final one?

You should install them as indicated in the 'from - to' orders.

When I updated to 7.58 I followed the strict numerical progression. I didn't even consider not doing it that way..

Ok remmoved C:AWRoot\bin\fi\APPDIAG.SYS installed all updates in order allowing computer to shut down after each one (appart from - Mise à jour Diagbox 7.57 vers 7.58) which I selected "quitter" then manually shut down / reset computer. copy pasted back into same computer location C:AWRoot\bin\fi\APPDIAG.SYS
Activated diagbox and it told me it was downloading internet update
So far so good, then got the message attached
Restarted diagbox but no good, restarted computer but no good, the only thing that I could have done that i didnt is activate diagbox after each update competed?
Any ideas whats wrong?
