Hello all,
After a few years away I'm back again. I bought an 11 plate Peugeot 3008 Exclusive auto this morning from a lovely traditional old garage in Tamworth, Staffs.
They've been looking after it for some years for a local lady and it has just had a new clutch fitted.
This is the first time I've driven an egs box and to be honest it drove fine.
Pick up Wednesday.

Hi Jim long time no see, I hope you and all others are ok. I'm hoping I won't need any help for a while and it's got 6 months included warranty. I think my last Peugeot was a 405 estate which was an amazing car. I understand what you're saying about new cars Jim, you can't even change the points now!
Hi Dormouse I looked at some hybrid's but just wasn't sure even though I owned a Prius which was incredible. I'm not sure what the Pilot box is?

Yes like the last one you posted, that is the actual red car I bought.

Not too tricky, below the reply box you will see an 'Attachments' tab, click that then click 'Add files' and you will be able to select the picture from your pc and upload it. Then put your cursor where you want the picture in the reply box and click the 'Place Inline' button. You can add your caption in the text box to the right of the Place inline button!! Done!!

You have this type of EGC gearbox.

Same as me.

This is my cabin layout

My Gear Shift is in line with no dog leg. The rotary knob where the second cup holder should be takes care of the optional gear modes which includes 4WD and Sport.
If your box is programmed like mine, you have to upshift by hand in Manual but downshifts will happen automatically if you leave it in too high a gear for it's pre-programmed liking. Pain in snow and Ice.
Because the Clutch is Electronically pre-programmed it can judder in and out when trying to creep slowly (especially in reverse ). A slight judder can sometimes be felt on some gear changes as well. No Clutch Pedal, no feathering. Left to it's own devices it is ok. Sports mode is more likely to show it's rough edges on mine.

The box itself is in two parts. The gearbox and diff bit, which uses gear oil and the hydraulic bit which works the Clutch and Gear Selector and uses hydraulic oil. The hydraulic bit is checkable (plastic reservoir on the right in the gearbox picture) but the gearbox itself has no level plug and is filled via a breather on the top of the box in a god awful location.
It is not unheard of for a mechanic to try to fill the gear box via the hydraulic reservoir. Be aware these are two different systems with two different types of oil and mixing is a no no.

It's good to know some things never change in the world of PSA cars I've never known an PSA gearbox of any sort be easy to refill
