Esp,parking break, hillstart, abs, tyre under inflation faults

Unread post by Doogler1 »

Hi i had my car 2014 citroen c4 picasso 1.5d in to get disks and pads done and these faults appeared.
I since had the car back at the garage and the mechanic said the issue was coming from the rear right wheel sensor so he replaced it and the bearing fault still appears so he reckond it could be a broken wire so today i removed the wheel and followed the wiring back no breaks until about a foot back from the wheel where i found a previous repair. Cut the shrink and found corrosion so i rejoined the wiring and the fault still remains im now at a loss. So any help would be apreciated

Hi, and :welc: to the Forum. Before trying any more repairs it could be worth taking the car for a quick drive. Certain systems (and the ABS is one of them) need to 'see' that the fault has been repaired before it will clear down any errors. I fell foul of this when I had a sensor failure on a Xantia. I replaced the sensor, but the ABS system still said there was a fault. However, once she went over 6MPH the ABS system could see everything was working properly, cleared the error (and fault light), and behaved itself.

So the question remains, was it the sensor, or was it the corroded repair that caused the problem?

I have this exact issue, diagnostic says Right rear wheel sensor. Changing it on Thursday, I'm somewhat sceptical that it is the sensor, but we'll find out...👍

This seems like a frequent issue - we've had exactly the same thing happen with our 2014 Grand Picasso.

The garage mechanics replaced the right rear sensor with a non-citroen one, and it caused a load more faults, including the handbrake not working altogether. Currently waiting on them sourcing an original part to see if that fixes it.

Should I tell them to check the wiring too, in case they've missed this? (It seems like a corroded wire has a lot to do with these isseus).

Yes, It would hurt, especially as other vehicles have suffered the same issue.
