VALEO 8900141173930912 Ballast 6 pin Pinout
Does anyone knows where the +12v and ground goes in the pins that connect to the C5 Mk1 ballast? ( in the Black 6 pin connector)
Unsure what each pin is , so a bit afraid to just go there and check with multimeter

Indeed be very careful of the high voltages generated there!
I don't have anything regarding the ballast / igniter on the MK I.

But the high voltage should exist only after the ballast, right? So that cable that connect to the ballast should have maximum 12V , i imagine...GiveMeABreak wrote: 04 Feb 2023, 01:40 Indeed be very careful of the high voltages generated there!

I may not explain well that i need to know. Actually it's the pinout of the cable that connects to the ballast

Yes, I understand, but there is nothing on the wiring diagram for the ballast. I assume it's because the unit is integral to the headlamp and therefore not a replaceable part that Citroen sell, so there is no wiring shown for it, just the 3 wires on pins 2 (Main beam supply), 3 (Dipped beam supply) & 4 (Earth) .

Re: VALEO 8900141173930912 Ballast 6 pin Pinout
Well, it is out and later on i can share a photo explaining better. There are 6 pins. 3 are +12V and other 3 are Ground (Negative)
Only 2 wires (Of the same color) go there. The 25Kv only appear after the ballast.
Now there is another doubt , so i'll make another post, so the information may be useful to others in the future

Here i leave some more explicit photos on the pinout of the ballast and what i think it was a problem here , some lack of isolation on the igniter

It does look in a bad way from your previous photo - extreme temperature / current.

Yup. The respective fuse was broken, but also the wires that connect to the headlight were worn by friction and had the potential for some short circuit , so i'm not sure if the melted fuse was due the ignitor , ballast or wiring.GiveMeABreak wrote: 04 Feb 2023, 22:48 It does look in a bad way from your previous photo - extreme temperature / current.
In the other headlamp , the ignitor is a bit different, as it has a cable connection on it , so one of them was changed (or one of the headlamps).
Tomorrow (later on) i plan to disassemble the other headlamp. Let's see what i find there

Re: VALEO 8900141173930912 Ballast 6 pin Pinout
Ballast and headlamps are from different years. One from 2003 and other from 2001. The one from 2003, i guess is original from the car. That one has a 12 pin Valeo Ballast.
Could that ballast be also responsible for headlight level correction? Both are now without ballasts , and one is leveling while the other not (The one with the 12 pin)
I already know that information is extremely limited on that subject , but i will try.
Lexia communicates with the oldest one , even without ballast , but not with the newest one. I'm a bit puzzled
The goal was to put Led lights , that are working properly. Just one headlight doesn't level automatically (Not a huuuge problem , as the suspension levels and i have it lower than it could be)
If both ballasts were working correctly , i'd keep them , but i suspect one is shot (or at least the ignitor was). There are Led headlamps that work with the ballasts.
The light now is really good and doesnt burn more the mirror inside the headlights (common problem due to xenon temperature) , but i'd like to put it fully operating. Knowing the pinout for those 12 pins would give a good idea on what may be happening there (Probably "Unobtanium" Material
)
