Had a bit of an issue last week

It was already slightly cocked but the snow finished it off. Issue being I had several mowers and cars under there.

So bloke with a crowbar and a chainsaw set to work

There were also 2 trailers and a 1960's sailing boat
This is where I am today

Believe it not, the only damage incurred is......a dented wing on the Landy, well that's fine, a 1973 Landy without a dent isn't a Landy, a slight dent in the bonnet of the Saab it stuffed the bonnet on my sit on mower but it drove out.
Only issue now is that both front brakes are seized on the Riley, the knock off wheel nuts needed some abuse.

Just hoping it's a bit rust of I can back the brake adjusters off to free them up. If the shoes are delaminated........hmm, could be a world of pain.
I do have the genuine Riley workshop manual, so that helps........maybe

ooops!!! At least it appears no injury to anyone and no glass breakage to worry about!! Good luck sorting that out Pete! :-D
I used to be indecisive, now I'm not so sure!
I used to ride on two wheels, but now I need all four!

Looks worse than it is, with very little damage to your cars.
Pain having to rebuild it though.

Quite a big job you've gained to build it's replacement, but amazed how little damage given the photos! Presume the roof "sat down" fairly slowly rather than crashing to earth.

I quite like how difficult it would be to date those photos! Given the cars in shot if you'd said "this is what happened to my barn in the winter of 1993" rather than 2023 would have believed it! :-D

Matt, '73 Landy with a Sherpa 2.5, 1986 Saab 900, My Grandad bought it new, 1948 Riley Special, now a 2 door soft top, Dolly Sprint eng and G/box, P6 auto axle, home made body, and the moulds for the wings survived. It's actually slightly French, the rear mud guards are a 2cv cut in half. My father in law built it, it has had may engines including a Pinto. I got it 20 odd years ago went it threw a crank shell.

Like the sound of all of those! :-D

The Riley must go well, not a lot of weight and the (16v but single camshaft, I think??) Dolomite engine - flying machine.

Sherpa 2.5, racking my brain there, is that the Ford, York diesel - actually nonsense, the Sherpa / Convoy only started borrowed engines towards the end in LDV times I think. So a Rover engine Hmmm, off the edge of my knowledge there, I've a mate with "the Land Rover disease" / hobby / addiction / fetish :) wonder if he'll know - mind you he's more modern TD5 / Puma engine end of the Defender age interest. I think I would like a land rover, just got too many hobbies at present to give one the time it seems to need.

Nice story of the Saab, always nice to hear "passed down the generations" type history to cars :)

Presumably the replacement barn will have a 2 or 4 post lift, piped air, underfloor heating, small spray booth etc, etc ? :-D

I think in Moizeau's case, it's a bit more like - 'Find what's left of the barn'

The Sherpa engine is , I think, a 12J engine? It's basically a rover 5 bearing crank which followed on from the original 3 bearing 2 1/4D with a metric top end. Same engine was used in the early 2.5 td's. The Sprint engine is the same as the Saab, with 8 extra valves and an extra SU carb. The later Saab engine in the 900 got wider increasing the the water and oil ways between the cylinders.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Triumph_slant-four_engine
After the Sprint threw a crank shell I had the crank reground, head skimmed and used the Saab Bols to rebuild the engine.

The brakes are free on the Riley ready to be towed somewhere safer (front garden) tomorrow and the Landy has it's clothes on.

Very lucky!

I'd definitely leave the Landy dent as is.

"Oh that, it's just where a barn fell on it" :rofl2:
