C6 with 2.7 hdi. What they like ?

Unread post by Mac194 »

Always liked the very oddball style of these cars. But what they like running costs. Perils and pitfalls of them. They’re a bit of luxury. The 2.7 engine is what Range Rover used I believe. And I think either Bentley or rolls Royce bought rights to the air ride from Citroen so they must have got something right with it.

The Hydractive suspension system is finished now with Citroen with the last being fitted to the C5 X7, which was also the last vehicle to be fitted with it, also discontinued.

The older system licenced to Rolls was the older Hydropneumatic system, so they may well have changed systems themselves or developed their own hybrid of it, I can't say.

The C6 is a lovely car, but parts are very expensive to maintain, and these are now becoming harder to source depending on the part, but some power steering and other hydraulic pipes are no longer available. The 2.7 engine is generally very reliable by all accounts - no doubt some other 2.7 owners will chip in!

JCB earthmovers and DJB articulated dumptrucks too.
And a tank, but I forget which one it was.

I've got one, picked it up cheap at an auction so it was a big gamble... I've nearly finished repairing the exploding gearbox heat exchanger! Absolutely lovely car though.

If it just about starts and drives, I'll probably buy it.

Trainman ran a C6 2.7 for quite a while, and had a comprehensive thread;

Still had last time I saw him, last May.
Flattened my battery and had to have a jump start from him.

More active now on the C6 Owners forum.
