Cold start problem Peugeot 307 2.0 HDi 136

Unread post by arceoxis »

Hello, I start hard at the forum by asking for help... I have a Peugeot 307 2.0 HDi 136 RHR and it has a problem, in cold weather the car immediatly turns off after 2s or so, that happens a lot of times before it finally stays on. Now it doesn't keep on, at 6-7th time it stops starting...
Some time it showed me these dtc: p0606 p1621 p1197

They were all related to a faulty ecu, I searched on the web and in 2 forums (If I am correct one was this) people said that with a new ecu the problem had finished.
So I have bought a second hand one with same hw number and I have cloned mine on this, but unfortunately the problem is still there...

So maybe my backup of the old one isn't good as it is damaged and I should try virginising it with the sw that it came with and pairing with bsi or maybe that second hand one has the problem and is bad too. Or maybe my problem is with some sensor, like crankshaft, camshaft or fuel rail pressure...
What do you think?

Any help is appreciated, thanks and regards.

Best thing you can do Oscar is to pop your VIN up, as there are 2 types of engine management systems on these and I need to relate the codes to the correct EMS. Please post your VIN in full without spaces - it will be automatically masked from public view after submitting your post & will only be visible to staff.
Please note, I'm no longer active on the Forum, so won't respond to messages.

Yes, there are Delphi and Siemens, in Siemens there are also SID803 and SID803A, this car has Siemens SID803

Try the simple route first.
Are the glow plugs ok ?
Have you drained the fuel filter, water turns to ice. Mine had water in now gone.
What amps is your battery? Mine was 70 now changed to 75 cranks faster starting much easier and smother
Also noticed cars that do this have a burnt out resistor inside the maf not the single pin side the double metal side this can make the car cut out also run lumpy in low rev range.

I understand not every car has the same fix but its worth the route I've mentioned first , very cold starts according to the hand book wait 25 to 30 seconds to fully engage the ignition to start the engine
Husky. :? Thinking outside of the box is better than sitting in a dark one.

Glow plugs were replaced like 2 years ago and are perfect, we had already drained the fuel filter, it was a bit clogged, we cleaned it but it was as before... Battery was the one with higher crank amps that fitted there and we have tested it and looked ok, but I will try with a new one... Also tried disconnecting MAF and same result.
Today I will check crankshaft sensor and replace it, also replace old fuel filter and try other battery. I will report back.

Tried another battery, new crankshaft and camshaft with same result, also tried unplugging rail pressure sensor with no luck...
The 3 things that I need to check are bsm, low pressure fuel pump and pump flow regulator...

Also checked low pressure fuel pumps and seems ok, so only 3 things that remains are pump fuel flow regulator, wiring and bsm. Do you know if bsm needs to be coded like bsi and ecu?

I answer myself, it doesn't need coding, or this one at least, a delphi bsm b3. I have changed it for the one in my 406 (same ref.) and I have the same problem.

So or I had the bad luck of buying another ecu that is defective as well or my problem is in wiring, I don't find any other answer to this problem...

Here it is a video, when I put it in ACC position the BSM clicks in periods of 5s or so between clicks and also in the dash the lights of check engine and glow plugs flash when the click happens:

This is a very weird problem your having, could it be an earth problem somewhere in the dash area ?

Looks like wiring or earth, I will take the car to a car electric garage since I'm not good at this...

Its pointing to an existing problem which has been proved by the purchase of another part to which your problem wasnt cured, your likely find there could be a wire somewhere touching and shorting or earthing against either another live or even a broken earth causing short circuit , if that makes sence.

Finally solved, no problems with wiring or earth.
The processor or flash were corrupted and my backup too...
Bought an inmo emulator for 15€, flashed a full backup of same ecu (not mine) and it's working again.
Now I have to ask the tuner that did dpf and egr off for the backup and flash it then.
