DS3 Folding mirrors wiring

Unread post by Kacper2003 »

Do all 2012 modules have connections for electrical folding mechanism of mirrors. I'm currently in process of repairing a 2013 citroen ds3 with folding mirrors. I have sourced drivers door from a 2012 model and waiting for delivery. Will I be able to transfer electronically folding mirrors and keep them operational as I known that some 2012 models do not have folding mirrors.

I doubt it as the electrical harnesses are all different for the doors depending on fitted equipment, so unless you are getting a door harness from a vehicle with electric folding mirrors you won't know until it arrives. There is a version for electric fold back and manual foldback.

From what I understand you are kust replacing the door but transferring the door control modules & wiring harness to the replacement door??
If this is the case i cant see any reason why they wont still work?

I was trying to avoid transfer of wiring harnesses and use what is provided. All that said, I will transfer the mirror, speaker, and control module. Just hoped to reuse the old wiring as I do not feel comfortable removing the old one from old door.

Is the door your getting coming with all the electrics etc in it? Normally breakers strip it bare. I honestly think if you are capable of removing the panel & swapping the door over you should be more than capable of swapping the harness over.

From what I was told the door will only be equipped with windows and motor powering the main window. As of the components, these will be transferred by me.

As long the process of removing wiring does not invole anything more complex than unplugging and pulling the harness out, I should be fine.

Should I expect any surprises when removing the electrical harness?

The 'Intermediate' harness as shown is a complete harness, with at least 18 variants or more that goes around the vehicle from the engine bay through the doors, to the boot. So that's why, depending on the equipment, build date and equipment you have, the harness will be a different part number.

As for how they route the harness, I can't say whether it is in one huge section at factory or split and joined in various locations on these. In either case, just look at what you have and determine if it's the same as what you are getting. If the harness has been cut as part of breaking the vehicle, then you'll just have to make some connection repairs. I know some breakers are rather brutal when dismantling when it comes to wiring.
