Citroen C15 alternator belt change

Unread post by Bilkob »

Any tips, tricks on how to do this?
It looks very tight from the top. Is it an underneath job?

What engine inhabits your C15 engine bay Bilkob? And what year is it?

I'm assuming it has no aircon but does it have power steering?

Done! Took all of 20 mins. In thru drivers wheel arch, one star bolt to release tensioner, belt off, new one on, tighten tensioner, done.

Excellent! A general rule of thumb is that any given job is possible but may need a bit of lateral thought to achieve it :)

I remember my XUD9TE 306 the auxiliary belt (PAS, no air con) it was possible to route the belt the wrong way over the tensioner - but it was soooo close to fitting if you wind the tensioner RIGHT the way in that I spent a good half hour trying to get the new belt on! Decided in must be a touch shorter (old belt far too worn to read the markings) and think even wasted a bit of time filing a touch off the tensioner bracket before the penny finally dropped!

There must have been only 10 mm difference in length one routing Vs the other, but made such a difference!

The wrong routing had sensible belt engagement on all pulleys, no clashes and would have tensioned up fine if it could have slipped on!

Pre camera phone days, so problem cured by a quick snap before taking the old one off!
