Re: Part identification
May prove well off the mark, but I remember my dad's work C15D had adjustment knob for headlamp height - as do lots of PSA stuff, but usually on the Citroen I'm pretty sure it was completely mechanical.
So, by location as pictured, I'm going to guess it's part of that mechanism.
Apologies if I am giving you a bum steer! Do like a "name this thingymajig" challenge!

Re: Part identification
Ummm. That's interesting... Looks like vacuum pipes... What does the box attach to and where do the two pipes go to exactly?
Some wider-view pictures may help...
My Saxo have electrically aimed headlamps whereas my AX has knobs... I've not seen vacuum operated ones - yet...
The bit in the second picture looks vaguely familiar but at the moment I can't place it...
Two things thin vacuum pipes might do on a diesel is operate an EGR valve or set cold advance/fast idle on the injection pump...
Like you Matt I enjoy puzzles like this too

Re: Part identification
Picture 2 is a turbo solenoid valve, or possibly EGR solenoid valve.

Every PSA vehicle I've messed with has been the electric adjustment type, my dad's C15D left us probably 20 years ago so details of it are pretty sketchy!
(Do remember the headlamp adjustment knob, and also the "man in hat" Vs "shoe" (????) heater controls!

Has anyone seen the plot?

Re: Part identification
I take it this is a DW8 engine?
The first pic is the vacuum reservoir, the second pic is a vacuum electro valve for the EGR system.
Parts 16 & 17 in the pic
