Hi there,
Thanks in advance to anyone who can help.
I'm looking at buying a 2019 Grand C4 Spacetourer but am struggling to understand what it is recommended/safe in terms of Isofix car seats.
The car seems to have underfloor storage compartments, and I've seen contradictory things online – with some sources saying an Isofix base's support leg should extend to the bottom of the storage box, others saying it can rest on top of the closed lid, and some saying the storage box should be filled (with dense polystyrene) and then the support leg rested on top of the closed lid. I've also seen reference to the storage box lids possibly having been reinforced in models from around 2016, but no idea how accurate that is.
I'm waiting for Citroen and a car seat manufacturer (Maxi-Cosi) to come back to me, but in the meantime, any knowledge would be greatly appreciated!
Thank you.

From the manual (click images to magnify):
Here's a PDF of the manual you can download and read through the whole section:

Thank you for coming back to me, very helpful.
Unfortunately though, that information from the manual doesn't clarify anything regarding the support leg/underfloor storage compartment issue.

I've just edited the above to include the complete manual link for this year. These are the only recommended places to secure child seats and in the manual you can see the recommended child seats and the groups referred to.

Re: Car seat with support leg in Grand C4 Spacetourer
Thanks, very helpful.
So three of the car seats recommended in the manual use support legs, and for all of them the manual says "the base has a height adjustable support leg that rests on the vehicle's floor".
But no mention is made of the underfloor storage boxes, despite the Isofix positions being across the middle row of seats where the boxes are. It's frustratingly unclear given the general advice of most people/companies on the internet to not use a car seat with a support leg on top of an underfloor storage compartment.

Re: Car seat with support leg in Grand C4 Spacetourer
All I can advise you is that Citroen only approve specific brands / types of child car seat that are compatible for their vehicles, so if using a compatible model as listed in the manual it should be fine to use, otherwise Citroen could be held liable and that is a position they would not entertain.
There are several section in the manual, so be careful - I think the green vehicle icon relates to the Grand C4 Spacetourer which is the larger version and the blue vehicle icon the saloon under the child seat section.

Re: Car seat with support leg in Grand C4 Spacetourer
I've just had a look at the specific child seats sold be Citroen Accessories for this model and I can't see anything referring to support on the floor - they all just seem to clip into the isofix in the seats or can be used with seat belt fastenings alone.

Thanks for looking, Marc. Appreciate your help.
I can't see this model listed anywhere on the Citroen Accessories website, unfortunately?
I just rang Citroen's head office customer service number about this issue but the adviser merely created a case number for me and connected me to the dealer I'm hopefully buying the car from. The salesperson at the dealer also didn't know so couldn't give an answer either.

Re: Car seat with support leg in Grand C4 Spacetourer
The ISOFIX anchor points are in the seat...any supporting leg isn't part of the ISOFIX standard as far as I'm aware.
Any child small enough to fit in a car seat isn't going to exert enough downward force through a seat's supporting leg to damage the storage compartment lid. The ISOFIX anchor points and the seat cushion will be doing the "heavy lifting" (so to speak...)
TL:DR don't worry about it

Re: Car seat with support leg in Grand C4 Spacetourer
Thanks everyone. After a *lot* of searching online, it seems that Citroen reinforced the underfloor storage boxes in August 2016, meaning that in any Grand C4 Picasso/Spacetourer from this point on, the support legs of Isofix car seats can rest on top of the lid.
Here are a few tweets from Citroen to that effect:
This also tallies with anecdotal posts on Facebook and Reddit from people told the same thing by Citroen.
I've still not heard back from Maxi-Cosi over email, nor from Citroen r.e. my original message to them on Twitter, but I doubt they will say anything contradictory (but if they do, I'll reply here, of course).

Just for anyone looking for an answer on this at a later date, Maxi-Cosi also replied to me today.

Glad you got the answer to your questions and i fully understand why you asked them.
Social Media platforms have been taken over for what my personal view they were intended for.
However this shows they can be used for things i believe they were designed for.
And i do not use any of them btw
Colin

Just to say thanks for following up on this post once you got an answer. Extremely useful for someone like me googling this before I buy a car seat!
