P0495 62 -> Peugeot 508

Unread post by maky_cvik90 »

Hello to all.
I'm the new guy here and I'll be appreciated if someone can help me with error code that I read at Diagbox.
Today I drove at highway and get Engine fault: Repair need error,. After that error car act normally and after 10 minutes of driving SERVICE light disappeared from dashboard.

When I came to home I connected my DiagBox and read the next error code:
Untitled.png
Temperature outside was about 0 degrees C. After that error temperature of oil was trooped for about 1 or 2 lines, I don't know does that have any with this error, but I notice that.

Thank you in advance,
Best Regards.

Here you go:
Fault Code: P0495 62

Conditions for Fault to clear: After switching the ignition off and then back on
Downgrade Modes whilst Fault is active:
  • Activation of the opening of the motorised coolant outlet housing
  • Request for opening the piloted flaps
  • Fan assembly very slow speed regulation reference value
  • Deactivation of the anti-bubbling limitation
  • Activation of the fan assembly at slow speed
  • Reduction in the activation thresholds for the coolant temperature alert
  • Declutching of the air conditioning compressor
Warning lamp and/or warning message:
  • "SERVICE" warning lamp
  • Engine coolant temperature warning lamp
Symptoms:
  • Starting problem
  • Engine hesitating, cutting out
  • Lack of power
Suspect Areas:
  • Fuses

From the suspect areas above I would check the wiring to the fan control unit in the fan assembly. Check the wiring and make sure it is not loose or corroded (but be warned the fan can come on without the engine started so I suggest disconnecting the battery but don't put your fingers near the fan blades.

It may be that or the relay, but a few things to check.

Update: I think this P0494 and P0495 error is because of soot in DPF, and the radiator fan is actually in good hardware condition (new fan and resistor). Horsepower is downgraded to limit max engine rpm to 2750 to avoid excessive backpressure on the DPF, like a soft limp mode, and then the ECU disables the engine radiator fan for some reason (maybe to make engine warmer or because it is cool enough in downgrade mode). Why I think this is because I had this soft limp mode (with SERVICE light which shows up simultaneously with P0494/5 error on OBD2) for 4 years with no radiator fan active and then when I poured into fuel tank 250ML of Mecarun Eco 10000 Diesel and drove 1 hour on highway and took a 1 min pause on a parking lot and then started the car and continued to drive very fast (limp mode and Service light was off) the error didn't come back during 1 hour, it came back only after the car was parked for hours. Maybe there was also a DPF regeneration event.
