What's ZDDP?
As I get older I think a lot about the hereafter - I go into a room and then wonder what I'm here after.

Have a look at this Paul:

"ZDDP’s primary role as a sacrificial anti-wear agent is to prevent wear throughout the engine in areas such as bearings, tappets, cams, piston rings and valve stems."

I found it here:

Looks to me to be a petrol engine issue. Not many diesel engines use leaded (or unleaded!) petrol.

I've been known to use petrol to clean particularly dirty diesel engines ;) They nicely ended up ZDDP with all the P going in the bin in the form of dirty, oily rags...

I only found this out the other day so i,m learning about it. Apparently theres been a spate of cam break in failures in the US by engine builders over the years its also been mentioned in piston aero engines .
Some people think its crappy cam and lifter engineering ie chinesium , off shore farmed out products others think its the Zinc that has been reduced in engine oils over the years as it was destroying the cat convertors ?. I,m just wondering if anything like this has occurred in the french car engine rebuilds / collectors cars older engine technology with failed cam break ins ie a wiped out new cam and lifters / tappets ?.
