diagbox ECU not recognised 2015 Peugeot 308 2.0

Unread post by sjpage10 »

Hi all

Can anyone assist me with this please?

When connecting diagbox v9.68 on my 2015 308 HDI 2.0 GT i get 'ECU not recognised'

It has a stupid fault where when it is below 10c outside the coil light comes on the dash and the push button will not turn the car over

I’ve replaced the heater coil relay and resistance on the plugs looks good, I’m reading power on the replay but not at the plugs , looks like it’s nothing to do with the heater plugs or it’s just not sending the signal to turn them on

Hot-wiring the starter causes the car to start instantly and after the car has, ran for even like 2 seconds it will then start on the button with no coil light on

Trying to read for an error with Diagbox and i end up with 20 errors stating 'ecu not recognised'

Please help someone

Thanks
Stef

Your VCI is probably a cheaper clone that's missing a lot of hardware so won't talk to later vehicles. You need a full chip revision C interface most likely.

The answer is yes to the second question and we don't support crippling of emissions devices on this Forum as it's illegal.

Sadly, that is how i purchased the car and did not realise until later what had been done to it
Still it has been running fine all summer!

I understand - that's the sad part in leaving a new owner with the issue, but be aware your insurance is probably also invalid, as the vehicle no longer meets the original certification it was issued with - another hidden issue that many won't be aware of.

Whether your clone VCI is the issue (lack of hardware despite many of the various sellers' claims) or whether the remapping and software modification is causing the lack of communication I can't say, however, if the VCI won't even connect, I suspect it is the interface as it would otherwise likely have some communication with some of the other ECUs. But if it's not a full CAN version, it won't talk to the vehicle systems, which is what a Full Chip version will do.

Although not a guarantee, units under £100 may not be the full ticket as the more expensive units reflect the additional components.

thanks for the reply,

its strange as it reads all the other equipment it just fails on the ECU I’ve read you can just set an alternative ECU but i wouldn’t have a clue which one to use

Engine management ECU ECU not recognised (20 Faults)

Is suspect it is having an issue detecting the engine ECU because of the software intervention. Even if you could select the engine ECU manually, I suspect it still won't make any difference as the software has been changed. Normally a software download of the ECU will reinstate the factory default, but of course this will obviously leave you with faults on the emissions and warnings.
