citroen c5 2001, diesel

Unread post by pug205 »

Hi all
This has probably been covered a lot before but I cant seem to find the links so apologies. I am trying to get a citroen c5 running that was parked up by someone for two years with no maintenance. They stripped the starter motor and battery. The car had been donated to this person who had not had that time to run it properly. I am now tryign to do a favour for the previous owner - an elderly lady.
So - the problem. I have put a new starter motor and battery in, and, once I had followed a technique I found on the internet (or maybe here) - key in ignition, door closed, window open, key out, key in, start etc all was fine. Now, after a few weeks, the doors dont close, windows dont open, and, despite changing the battery in the key fob, all i get when i try and start the car is the immobilier fault display. I have disconnected/reconnected the battery - bizarrely, each time I do this, the rear window wiper works without it being on and the sidelights come on.
The car was fitted with 'traffic master'. I live in France, so this is useless and annoying. It comes on every time i try and go through a reset procedure.
I am assuming that this is a problem associated with the BSI but the Haynes manual says you cant do anything with this.
I have an OBD2 reader but i cant use it as the OBD2 connector plug seems broken - the lugs dont line up.
I am desperate to get this car going - it had only one owner before it was given away and when it was driving it was superb - suspension worked, lovely velour interior etc
i dont want to think about it going fro scrappage. But these electronic issues are so hard to solve. My own car - a peugeot 205 with 350k km on the clock, is brilliant - no complications!
Any advice appreciated
