Hi.
I got an P1799 multifunction switch fault (see the pic).
I can't really find info about, but is possible the gear selector sensor?
The fault isn't always there because of being intermediate fault, however the dashboard gives me always: gearbox fault repair needed and my service light is on and not deletable.
Please advise.

Hi Yafi. P1799 is a generic code used by many manufacturers for transmission issues, so it just points you in a general direction. It's also seen as "Hold switch circuit malfunction" sometimes.
What other symptoms do you see apart from the message on the dash and the service light?
What type of gearbox is it? e.g. AL4
Can you access Peugeot Planet (I'm assuming it's a 208?) or Diagbox to see if you can get more detailed info on the fault?

Hi again. Thanks for the answers.
I somehow doesn't have notification activated for answers on my posts.. gonna see to it now.
@ross_k: yes it's a al4. However the fault came up just twice in like 25+ diagnosis. I actually replaced teh gearbox with another used one, but the service light and 'gearbox fault repair needed' message on the dashboard was on even after the exchange. I tried many times to delete, also different mechanics, but it doesn't work. Other no (electrical / Sensor) fault regarding the gearbox was detected.
However mechanical there is issues, I think the clutch of the 2nd gear is done and needs replacing due to some rev issue and power loss. There is a oil leak as well. Here in South Africa Peugeot parts are rare and people unfortunately only cheat each other .. I got hold of diagbox but don't have the specific connection cable to plug it into the laptop. I got a Bluetooth obd reader but I read here in the forum that won't work..
@givemeabreak: thanks for the detailed description of the fault. I can't actually say that there is a P/N fault at all.. the sport and snow lamp doesn't give a signal fault either as it's mentioned in the description. I'm really clueless. I bought a gear selector sensor in the beginning of the year (it's from the same car I bought the gearbox from), do you think it's worth just swapping it?
Just as a side note:
When I bought the car I was tricked Bad time. However I worked over the past 11 month on the car step for step. Replaced first ECU then BSI, did replace the tappetcover and seals, then had to replace the whole engine because literally everything was messed up from cylinder head to pistons (that's now 2+ month ago, since then I'm able to at least drive car), same time the gearbox was replaced. Engine and gearbox mountings, both oxygen sensors, water hose of the engine and some other smaller things were replaced since I bought the car. I'm really tired. Every time I fix something something else comes up.
Since I replaced the second oxy sensor the car gives me the fault (MAP and TPS fault)of the attached screenshot.. gonna go tomorrow for it and see what's up with that. The catalytic converter might need replacement or was actually taken out as well, no signs of it from the outside though..
