Re: 207 cc 1600 GT Mass Air Flow Censor
VIN for this car please, as you won't have a MAF for a petrol on this engine. It's likely you mean a MAP sensor.

Just checked Marc. Your 100% correct. It is a MAP not a MAF. I still cannot work out the location. Cheers

It should be on the left side of the intake manifold distributor (as you stand facing the engine), where I've circled in red - on the side:

The orientation of that diagram looks wrong. Is that a driveshaft at the bottom?

It sure looks like it, but if you think about it the drive shift would be there obviously as its s shot of the rear of the engine.

My point is that the sensor would be on your right unless you are standing on the roof of the car.

Point taken. There are two censors on the right hand side of the engine next to the battery. The most rear one seems to lead into the rocker area. I would presume thar a manifold pressure sensor would be attached to the manifold. I'll try and locate it in the position that Marc has said.

I may have got the position wrong as I just reversed it based on the parts diagram showing it at the opposite end, but it will be at one of the ends

Re: 207 cc 1600 GT Manifold Absolute Pressure Censor
Found the culprit. Please see photos attached. The MAP sensor is indeed situated on the passenger side (UK) of the inlet manifold. Its held in place by one 8mm headed screw. It a nightmare to get at. Its best to remove the air intake hose running from the front of the car to the ait filter body. I also had to release the air filter body itself to allow more access. The photos were awkward to take but I have done my best to get the camera to focus. I held a slim doctors torch that they use to check your pupils to highlight the MAP itself. If you zoom in on the second photo down you will clearly see the MAP censor highlighted by my torch. It took me about an hour to replace the censor. I suggest taking the connector plug of before loosing the fixing screw and censor. I attached the plug to the censor before placing the censor in situation and finally the screw. Its dam fiddley and theres not much room to move, believe me. You will need a quarter inch drive rachet along with a six inch extension with a 8mm socket to get into the censor screw. The censor sits at a slight angle. Going straight at it to loosen/ tighten won't work. I hope this helps someone. Many thanks to all that had an input to this post.

Re: 207 cc 1600 GT Manifold Absolute Pressure Censor
Just as a final thought on this post, the reason for the search for the MAP censor was a fault code on diagbox was P2178 that started the search. The fault was described as a " mixture regulation fault" I had notice an increase in fuel consumption, an unsteady fluctuating idle and a sudden resistance to increase revs when the accelerator pedal was slowly depressed and then it revved up very quickly. The MAP censor partly controls / trims the fuel mixture ia the engine ecu dependant on the pressure in the manifold. The description of the fault can be see in the attached photo aat the bottom. The car is running as it should now. I'm still trying to get to the bottom of the other code in the photo P1676 "controlled alternator fault" I know Marc was in touch about this one before with another member, but dammed if I can find that post.
