A mechanic discovered play in the steering rack of my C4, that he believed was likely the track rod ends, but it's since been confirmed it's play from the steering rack itself. The plan has been described as 'a little bit more than slight, but no excessive'. The advice is that it's safe to drive and wait for the MOT before I do anything.
Does anyone know, if play in the steering rack on Citroens/C4 is common? The car has done 80k. The mechanics inspect the steering rack, and there doesn't seem to anything else obvious.
Lastly, how many hours work is a replacement, if I could find a refurbished one?
