My daughter made these chocolates for Halloween to give to the kids as tricks. They're raw sprouts inside a chocolate case.
The thing is I love sprouts and will even eat them raw so they are a definite treat for me!

Trick or Treat
As I get older I think a lot about the hereafter - I go into a room and then wonder what I'm here after.
Inside every old person is a young person wondering what the hell happened.

Re: Trick or Treat
Love that
I must admit I prefer them raw... I enjoy most cabbage raw, the major exception being kale... That really does need to be cooked...
I love to eat raw broccoli stems... Once I've eaten all the florets (cooked usually), to nibble on the big thick stem is a real treat... The stems are good sliced and cooked too...

Re: Trick or Treat
I had my first visit in the almost thirty years since I've been here by trick or treaters seven tiny children at the door their mothers at the roadside in the pouring rain.
I stuck my hand in my pocket said "sorry no sweeties I'll give you pennies instead." a voice from the mothers said "Thats' better."
a chorus of children said "me me me."

None for me this year. I guess ours are not made of such stern stuff as yours Eric - the torrential rain seemed to put a dampener on their activities...

None here either, I was out most of the early evening then dropped the car at my son's and walked home, there were lots of them around but it started raining and they all gave up and went home by the time I reached home.

Re: Trick or Treat
I'm a miserable old git when it comes to T&T. I still treat that as an Americanism we could have done without and concentrated our efforts on the 'penny for the guy' week which used to follow halloween! I can't remember seeing any kids with a guy for years now and I am advised that is because they do Halloween these days!! Well we took advantage of the fact that our front door is on the side of the house opposite the garage wall in a covered in walkway, which has a gate at the front with a lock on it!! It was locked at 6pm and unlocked yesterday morning. No pests for us!!

I used to be indecisive, now I'm not so sure!

Re: Trick or Treat
I agree Mick... Used to love Penny for the Guy as a kid, the building of the village bonfire and then lighting it on the 5th...
I'd not been long into fixing radios and tellies when I found out their big smoothing electrolytic capacitors went off with a very satisfying bang when chucked onto the bonfire
A good way of disposing of duff ones
Hugely more fun than any silly trick 'n' treating... I don't see village bonfires these days... Another victim of the practice of wrapping our kids in cotton wool I guess... Not that mine ever were and they are arguably much better for it

Re: Trick or Treat
I know of somebody who used to leave a deep bowl of sweets by the door, with the notice "Help yourself, but don't be greedy". On one Halloween somebody was greedy, and found out why this was not a good idea. At the bottom of the bowl was an armed mouse trap!

Re: Trick or Treat
Same here Jim. Mrs. Michel is a fan of kale, and I definitely agree with you. I like to eat the florets raw too. Also, when making any sort of salad for myself if she's not in, I've usually eaten most of it as I've made it, raw, of course.CitroJim wrote: 02 Nov 2022, 16:16 Love that
