Hi, I have a 2011 Peugeot 207, radio was working fine until the aerial got stolen.we bought a new aerial but reception is poor and can only get a few local stations. We have tried several more aerials but none worked. Went to Halfords and they tried three aerials that they said were comparable/recommend but again none worked.
Does anyone know what could be wrong, could incorrect removal of the old aerial have caused a problem with the head unit.
Thanks in advance.

Re: Peugeot 207 radio problem
When you say the aerial was stolen do you just mean the screw-in flexible bit?

Re: Peugeot 207 radio problem
As an additional to Paul's question, was the aerial base damaged when it was stolen?
I ask as some models may have a preamplifier in the base and if that got damaged at the time of the incident then that would account for the poor reception...
Also, any base damage may have broken off the coaxial cable connected to the base, particularly if it was swivelled around during the theft...
Although I cannot now recall, most models have a way of accessing the aerial base without needing to drop the headlining... Hopefully yours has...

Re: Peugeot 207 radio problem
I think that all models that use the "bee stinger" type aerial for radio reception have an amplifier in the base. All the ones I've seen so far have anyway.
For information, note that not all roof aerials are used for radio reception. For instance my C5 X7 Tourer has printed circuit aerial "wires" on the rear window and the stubby roof aerial is just used (I think) for the satnav. Some other cars have the aerial hidden inside the rear spoiler, especially if it is the roof lip type. The amplifiers for my X7 are separate units located inside the rear wing area.

Re: Peugeot 207 radio problem
The aerial type (both screw in antenna and base unit) will differ depending on what Head unit / telematics system your 207 has. Some are designed for Radio and GPS or Radio, GPS and GSM.
