PUG 405 Engine Oil Temp Gague inop

Having just acquired a 405 STDT Estate I saw that the engine oil tempeture gague isn't working. Anyone any ideas please?

Have you checked the oil temp sender sensor - Never looked on a 405, but on a 309 / 205 it was near the top of the block.

2 pin connector on front of the sump, stick your head under the front bumper & have a look.

Hi
You sure its a temp gauge, Didnt know Peugeot fitted them on STDTs.
Does it say mini & maxi on it, left part light up red & right part light up white?
Goes to maxi when you turn ignition on & goes to mini & lights go out when the engines running?
If yes to the above its a level gauge for the oil that only works at start up.

Thanks for the replies, Powerlee you are correct, it is a oil level gague. What a "cockeyed" way for it to function. Thanks again for the advice.
