Unread post by A_S »

Hi, i have 206 with 1.4hdi engine (2006)
I was wondering if i could swap the Gearbox from 307 with 1.6hdi engine?
Why?: because It have a longer gearing.

Quite a few differences to check:
1.4 is MA gearbox I think, 1.6 is bigger BE gearbox. 206 was fitted with the BE (for 2.0 HDi and indeed GTi models) so should not be any clearance issues. However not sure if mount on top of gearbox is identical, same position, etc.
MA gearbox has no intermediate bearing on the long gearbox, BE does. Not sure if 1.4 block has the mounting points for the bearing carrier (or perhaps whether the rear lower engine mount can be swapped complete for the 1.6 version.

Obviously would need to get the BE driveshafts from a 206. Suspect the 307 ones too long.

Think 1.4 has no dual mass flywheel but at least some 1.6 definitely do.

Speed sensor differs I think.

Starter motor looks to be in the same place (rear of the block, flipping awkward to access!) But if the bell housings are identical I couldn't say
