C5 x7 jerking/cutting out

Unread post by p1nky87 »

Hello, hope someone can help. I have a c5 x7, recently especially since it’s got cold and wet, will sometimes jerk as if it’s cut out for a split second. When it does, it disables the cruise control for me. Sometimes it will be worse and actually cut out all together and fail to start for a few minutes, sometimes failing to crank. I get alsorts of codes, sometimes esp light when it cuts… I have changed the under bonnet fuse board but still no different. Any help would be appreciated

Subscribing to this topic as mine has (very intermittently) started doing the jerk/disable cruise control thing too.

It actually cut out on the m5 tonight in lane 3. Kangarooing for nearly an hour, then ESP light came on and it seemed ok. Until it cut completely of course. Then seemed sorta happy as the engine light came on 😂

My 2010 2.0 hdi RHR also does the intermittent jerking. Fault code reader came up with crankshaft position sensor error. Have had it replaced but too early to say if fixed as the car is now off road with hydraulic suspension problems🤦🏻

Hmm worrying. Mine did a similar thing. Cruise control at 70 ish and all fine until I had to overtake and pressing the accelerator caused a jerk and then eml light and message came on. This is the second time it has happened - first was couple of weeks back towards the end of a long journey. I got the fuel overpressure code and the procedure of several full throttle accelerations over 5 minutes cleared it at the time. Its back though

I had a similar issue on one of my maintenance fleet cars with 2.0 HDi. Replacing the crankshaft sensor cured it completely! :)
