C8 2.0 flakey power steering

Hi car people.

Got here 2006 2.0 C8 diesel, which upon starting will not powersteer for couple of minutes. Starts fine, no check engine light, but i have to muscle it for a bit for it to kick power steering in.
I'm not even sure if C8s have hydraulic or electric power steering.

Help ?

If it's the same as the C5 it's likely to be the battery failing, the initial starter load takes more out and leaves the power steering without enough to work until the alternator takes over.
