Power for audio amplifier on C5 II and car user manual

Unread post by dulenator »

Hi all!

I want to put an audio amplifier in the trunk, but the main problem is power. It is impossible to push the wires through the firewall without disassembling many things I don't want to touch if I don't need to.
I wonder if there is a "spare" fuse spot in the internal fuse box that can be used for a 150-ish W amplifier?
I have one "live" positive contact on place no. 40 without fuse and negative contact. :-k

Or I can "steal" power from the cigarette lighter in the trunk since I'm never using it.

The second problem is that I cannot find the user manual for C5 restyle anywhere online. I called the official dealership and got, of course, nothing.
I would like to have the user manual, or at least the fuse box diagram, so I know what is what.

The C5 II with factory-fitted Amp was fused via one of the passenger compartment fuse boxes (BH12) using Fuse F39 (30A). F38 was for the driver's electric seat adjustment relay and the forward 12V power socket (also 30A).

So there should be a 30A fuse in the F39 spot and I have a 20A one. I suppose it's like that because there is no factory amplifier, only electric seats.
Is there any use for the F40? There is no fuse there and it has a live connector but nothing to be connected with.
The previous owner used that pin for aftermarket navigation which I removed because it was old and useless.

I will try to use the F39 with a 30A fuse. There should be enough juice for everything. :)

Not sure what that is for as I can't see anything listed except for the items mentioned. For standard Radio without telematics, the Audio is fused via the BSI (F8) 20A.

F40 is for the Driver & Passenger's heated seat timer relays, and the actual driver an passenger heated seats, so I would not put an amplifier on through that fuse too, or it will be too much load.

I don't have heated seats (no switch on seats and one-legged F40 spot), so F40 could be the chosen one! :D
All I need is 10A because I used a 10A inline fuse with that amplifier without any issues.

I will connect everything in the next couple of days and try not to fry anything. :)
