Retrofit Cruise Control on C8?

Unread post by manafas »

Hello
Has anyone successfully retrofitted a cruise control on a manual C8?
And if so, what parts to buy and how to install?
Many thanks

Depends on vehicle engine, and electronic architecture as to whether it is supported and the switch control module already installed as there are various versions depending on the options your vehicle has.

Your VIN might help us to see what you already have (please post your VIN in full without spaces - it will be automatically masked from public view after submitting your post & will only be visible to staff).

I have successfully installed CC on plenty of early VAN/CAN C8's no problem but have never tried it on a full CAN version like yours.
A while back i done a guide for the MK1 C5 which i'll link below, The installation is practically the same except the brake switch is on the pedal bracket above the pedal rather than behind the passengers glove box on the C5. You first need to check if you need a brake switch or not, if it needs one the part numbers are the same as is the stalk.
The other difference here is that the CC on the later full CAN versions also had a speed limiter function, I dont know if you can just fit the 'regular' CC without the speed limiter function, the speed limiter would also require (as a minimum) a replacement accelerator pedal & im not sure that retrofitting this function is possible.
If you can get the parts cheap enough its certainly worth having a go.
