Fault code help

Unread post by Kovendi_lori »

Hello everybody
I am an owner of a 2014 C4 Grand Picasso 2.0 Blue HDI 150ps.
Car was working fine, but when i wanted to start it a week ago it refused to start. (Cranking.but not starting) After a disconnected the battery, it started right away.
Since then i got the UREA warning, but disappeared after topping up with adblue. The car is working fine without any errors on the dashboard.
Today i wanted to check with diagbox what must have caused the error. Surprise: full with error codes.
Maybe somebody had the same experience and can advise. Thank you
the errors look like this
P0215 71 Principal relay control
U1218 81 Communication fault with the built-in Systems Interface
U1218 81
U1218 81
P1199 7B Fuel level

Google the two P codes and you might have an answer. Interesting reading.

These basically mean you have a communications issue with the BSI which is the master controlling computer on the vehicle. All the other ECUs communicate with the BSI directly or indirectly, so there is something going on that needs further investigation. The last fault relates directly to the DPF additive pump which I can't help with specifically at present for this engine. It may well be a separate issue or related as the pump also communicates with the engine ECU and in turn the BSI.

Fault Code: U1180 87
Description of Fault: Signal from the engine oil pressure and temperature sensor: Missing information. Communication fault with the engine oil pressure and temperature sensor: Information missing.
Conditions for Fault to clear: Vehicle Running
Downgrade Modes whilst Fault is active:
  • Inhibition of diagnostics on the engine oil pressure and temperature sensor
  • Full opening of the fuel flow control valve
  • Performance Throttling
  • Prevention of automatic shutdown of the engine
  • Activation of the opening of the motorised water outlet box
  • Using a Default Value for Engine Oil Pressure
  • Using a Default Value for Oil Temperature
  • Forcing the command to place the oil pump in its maximum displacement
  • Engine Oil Overheat Diagnostic Inhibit
  • Inhibition of engine coolant temperature estimation
  • Inhibition of cold engine coolant temperature diagnostics
  • Activation of the additional turbocharger water pump
  • Inhibition of engine oil temperature or pressure faults
Symptoms: Lack of automatic shutdown of the combustion engine
Suspect Areas:
  • Engine ECU
  • Engine oil pressure and temperature sensor
  • Electrical harness
  • Connectors
