Hi. I’ve been looking on and off to get a DS5 because I really like the car (the Citroen version much more than the DS one), but I keep worrying about the hybrid system’s battery. I haven’t seen reports on any of:
- how well they hold up
- whether a full charge indicator means the battery is still in its prime, and vice-versa
- if the car can run at all with an old, non-charging battery
- how much does it cost to replace or repair the battery
- whether regular Citroen/PSA dealerships can replace or repair it, and if so how easily or does it take weeks
It seems to me these questions would deserve answers, but I haven’t found anything online. I figure they will be the same as for other PSA models with the hybrid4 system, but I haven’t found any for those either. Does anyone here have any pointers?
Thank you.

Don't know anything first-hand, others on the forum may. The wiki page on it wouldn't make too encouraging reading...

Re: DS5 hybrid4 battery
The batteries are different depending on whether the vehicle is a Euro 5 or Euro 6.1 vehicle, but the batteries are supplied as a kit with the battery ECU and other parts and are both around £2600 new. These can be obtained from Citroen or DS, they are the same company.
As with all battery technology they have a maximum number of charging cycles that decrease over time so ultimately will need replacing - but that is something that can't be answered here as life will change with the driving mode used (all electric / hybrid mode etc). Of course the vehicle will run without the battery component in normal ICE mode.
I suspect that the battery capacity system will show you the remaining charge and what that capacity it is at when fully charged.
