citroen c5 estate 2009 wiper motor fault

I am new to this forum, still trying to find my way around it! But I am trying to find out if the Vin/Chassis number on my Citroen C5 estate 2009 in year, qualifies for a recall or repair by Citroen ? for my front wiper motors that have decided to stop working, I believe that there was a problem with them that could come under a free repair by Citroen. my Vin number is VF7**************[VIN obfuscated, can be read by forum staff]
i believe the two motors have a Master / slave relationship , my local garage had a quick look and said the motors are not talking to each other, that there is a communication error !
Any help would be greatly appreciated !

I've run your VIN and it is not listed as being within the recall range of affected cars.

Your issue is just likely to be normal failure that many of us have experienced. It tends to be water ingress into the ECU / electronics causing the random behaviour.

Thanks for the quick reply, could be an expensive fix! they are asking crazy prices for second hand ones on Ebay.
Is the driver's side or the passenger one more prone to failure? I realize it could be either but thought I might have a go at taking one apart to try and find any faults.

It can be either one, and wiper behaviour will not be an indication of which is the faulty one unfortunately as it could be the master ECU in one wiper or the slave ECU in the other not responding.

Also be aware that left hand drive vehicles have different wiper part numbers so are not interchangeable with right hand drive vehicles.

You can google C5 wiper motors or check out ASK_dj and C5 wiper motors on the forum where there is an excellent write up and a YouTube showing how to get to and take the motors apart.
Our 2013 C5 X7 suffered a wiper motor problem. The uk driver's side is the master.
On taking ours apart it became apparent that a good clean up and regrease was necessary for both motors.
In our case the passenger side magnet had slipped (refer to the video for a more concise explanation) and only the driver's wiper was working.
It may become clearer if the motors can be removed from the car and the covers removed for inspection. You could save yourself £300 per side for each motor if you can check them out.
